Insanely greasy demon.

Insanely terrible music.

I'm going to give it a 5/5 just for shits & giggles.

You.
Are.
Awesome.

Honestly, this is not that bad for a "first real dubstep track".
But I can't give it a higher rating than a 3. Mainly because of the sound design. The drums were generic crap. And of crouse, the drop. You said that they could be better (in the description) and I fully agree with that. Bad sound design kicked in, yo!

That's what I noticed to say the least... Other than that, it's ok... I guess.
Yeah. That's about it. Keep it up anyway, you'll improve.

Falsesouth responds:

Thanks, I appreciate that you knew I knew it was not great. Yep drums were generic, and I gotta find some better stuff. I understand the rating and agree with it.

Not really my cup of tea, but nice work anyway!
Actually, that sub-bass is really getting on my nerves. Could be an octave lower or something.
Keep it up!

Falsesouth responds:

hmm good point, thanks for the review man!

I'm gonna give ya 3.5 stars because you're being honest. This really is crap.
It's quite an acid trip tbh.

i have no idea how lying would help me in the slightest lol
i consider all of my songs crap but this one is a special snowflake in its own ways

Well, my main problem with this is the mixing, mastering and sound design.
Actually, some sounds are good, some are... well, not that good. Forget it.
There's really no formula on "How to design good sounds" ya know?

So, um, mixing? Like you said "Trying to balance frequencies and volume in this one". That's right!
In my opinion, both the kick and snare could use some compression. Something makes me dislike the hi-hat, it doesn't really fit.

The growls that start at 1:09 aren't amazing in any way either. Not terrible, but not great either.

And the mastering? Well, heres a simple solution: Multiband compressing! Don't overuse it tho.

Well, I liked the melodies tho. The plucked sounds and sawleads and whatever, you know what I'm talking about, sound pretty good too!

Overall: It's pretty good i'd say. Maybe I didn't even need to say some of these things... Probably just saying things that you already know...

richie5126 responds:

Everything helps, lol -- dubstep is new territory for me. It'd be great if you can add more on how I can improve the growls or even rewrite them (bringing out certain frequencies, changing freq sweep, show examples of some stuff I should try and match, etc), this one's basically a vocoded saw lead that I just ran with.

I'm not entirely familiar with multiband compressing but I'll read up on it. Big issue is the mugginess which I'm having trouble clearing up.

I don't know how about you, but I'm noticing alot of unnessecary distortion in this song, and that is really really bad. I'm not fan of these vocals, too. Also, it doesn't really sound like "Drum N Bass" to me.
Aside from all these cons, there are pros! It's pretty catchy! I like the beat and the bass guitar (at least that's what I'm assuming it is). Good job on that!
Well, but that's not really enough for a great song.
The distortion killed it.
Anyway, keep it up!

JMistro responds:

Thanks for the review. I'm a fan of distortion, I'll agree this one is a bit much but I like it. As far genre labeling goes, I have no clue what to label my tracks haha
