Weird.

Sound design seems to be really nice, melodies and chord progressions also seem to be nice for what they are, but the structure of the whole song seems off, like there barely are any transistions, certain segments (that are usual for an EDM track) are just not there, ending is super abrupt. Also there are some mixing problems, for example the drums starting from 01:11 are pretty much non-existent (super quiet).

Although the thing that worries me the most is that I have a suspicion that you just threw a bunch of Virtual Riot's samples and loops (or samples and loops from any other source) in the project. Not saying that it is always bad, but when a song is made entirely out of someone's elses loops/samples, then it gets a bit sad. Some loops don't even go well together, that's what makes it even more questionable because a person who knows how to make such nice chords, melodies and sound design wouldn't mess up the structure and things would definitely fit nicely togheter.

Anyway, it was somewhat nice to listen to, but since I have the suspicion that you ONLY used samples and loops, then the song loses most of it's value to me.

I wrote way too much text than I should have, probably could have explained my thoughts in less than this whole thing.

PM me if you want to discuss this further or get any advice, etc.

Aetherous responds:

Yeah you are right, that i used loops. I have stepped down from dubstep and took a different way of music. I want to make dubstep all from myself, its I don't know how to really make it. I I have just went a head started making more instrumental music than electron music. I want to mix both in the long run. Sorry for the 2 YEAR LATE response.

It was ok for what it was. I wouldn't say that I'd listen to this myself when I'm bored, but it was ok. Not sure why you put this in the "Dubstep" category though, as this certainly is not dubstep. You should also work on transistions a bit more.

DJROCKIT responds:

Did I put this as dubstep? oops my mistake.

Heyy, that's pretty good!

Codly responds:

ha thanks...

It's not great. Seems as if you just used pre-made loop samples (which at least sounded nice by themselves if that's the case). First transistion at 00:41 sounded bad. The first part just suddenly cut off and then the other lead synth came in without any context, sounds as if a whole other song has started playing. Transistion at 01:13 was also pretty bad, except that both parts kinda match. Assuming that both melodies are played in the same scale and that's the whole reason it fits. Same thing with the transistion at 01:25. On 01:41 it returned to the same intro pluck melody thing, which doesn't fit completely. Another transistion at 1:58, copletely out of place. You know what, I'm done talking about those transistions and segments.

In conclusion, I just have a very strong feeling that all those melodies and all this sound design are just pre-made sampled loops. Even the drums. They do sound nice by themselves, but still, they're unoriginal loops. And when you put them all like this in 1 "song", it's pretty bad.

If you actually knew scales, chords and all that other theory crap, there's just NO WAY that you would make this thing.

Those are basically my thoughts. Yeah.

DJROCKIT responds:

HAHA, did use pre-made loops! might edit it though.

honestly my expectations were way higher m8. like i see potential, you made a nice melody with that lead in the drop, but it just could be more polished, you know?

UbiMusic responds:

I wanted to get it out so I could focus on the Cymatics remix competition. That made me rush a little bit

repetitive, the build up was way too loud, just overall not very interesting track.

its not terrible, but its not good either. i wish i could give a better review but i cant really wrap my head around this. so yeah...

PizzaKiller responds:

Yeah,i can see your points...I made this in a kind of hurry, and i think if i took my time with it,a better result could occur. But hey,at least is something right?

eyy, thats mildly adequate

UbiMusic responds:

Insert Lenny here

Heyyy, that's pretty good!

P3YOSHI responds:

Thanks! Sorry for advertising.

It's like a vine of the music world.
It's not bad though. Sounds like a proper retro video game song.
If it's difficult to make melodies for you, I would suggest learning scales. Learning some chords would help too.

KiindBoii responds:

Okay, this song was made in some random program that i wanted to test.

Thanks and i will keep those things in mind!

Heeeeey, that's pretty good.
The design of the main bass sound could be better but whatever.

KORAII responds:

thanks mate :) I was mostly mucking around with harmor and i found something that sounded cool, so whatever xD
